Vickramaraja plea to bring commercial tax under state list

Vickramaraja plea to bring commercial tax under state list

The demand to give the right to collect commercial tax to the states as before is growing in many states. There is nothing wrong in doing so, said Vickramaraja, the state president of the Tamil Nadu Federation of Traders Associations.
The Federation's Coimbatore Zone Youth wing held a discussion meeting titled "Towards Our Goal" in Erode. He told reporters at that time: The Prime Minister has announced that GST tax revisions will be brought. We insist on only a single-tier tax. In this regard, we will meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman next month and submit a petition.
A picketing protest will be held in Trichy on August 30th to condemn the expansion of D-Mart. Local business is affected by corporate companies engaging in retail trade. Online sale of medicines and crackers should be banned. As per the CM's announcement one lakh new trades have joined the Traders Welfare Board.
Action should be taken against plastic bag manufacturers, instead of taking action against traders. Food safety department officials should take action against corporate companies instead of taking action against small traders.  We welcome action against online and cracker dealers. We urge traders to put up Tamil name boards. Hindi should not be imposed. The government is relaxing trade license regulations. We have decided to set up markets in every district on behalf of the association. It is also coming to Erode. Street vendors should be given identity cards.
Association district president Shanmugavelu, secretary Ramachandran, youth wing president Lawrence Ramesh and many others participated.
