Tiruvallur district team wins fencing competition

The state-level fencing competition was held on May 21 and May 22 at SN Arena on Trichy Road in Coimbatore. Over 300 students from various districts, including Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari, participated in fencing and shield fencing events.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Selvaraj, the founder president of Tamil Nadu Dhangda Sangam. Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Chet Rick Manuel was a special guest who officially opened the competition. Other dignitaries present included Karpagam University Sports Director Sudhakar and Dr. Leo Bernard from Leo Ortho Care.

The competition was divided into four categories: mini sub junior, sub junior, junior, and senior, with participants competing based on their weight classes. The winners of this competition will go on to represent Tamil Nadu at the national level competition in Manipur.

The Tiruvallur district team emerged as the overall champions of the event, while the Coimbatore district team secured second place.
