Over 300 benefit at SOS Village Medical Camp

Over 185 beneficiaries, including 110 children, Youth House boys, and 75 Family Strengthening Programme participants, were provided with free medical assessments and treatment at medical camp was conducted at the SOS Children’s Village Chennai and the Family Strengthening Programme cluster Kamarajar Nagar recently. 
The camp was organised in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Health Department under the ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme’. Caregivers of the Family Strengthening Programme who were unable to attend the camp were also provided with door-to-door consultations.


The screening identified beneficiaries who were at risk of chronic diseases and provided them with timely medication and supplements. Referrals were made to the Government Stanley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment for patients with serious health conditions.


The medical camp also identified 15 women from the Family Strengthening Programme and 11 children and Youth Homes boys from the Children’s Village with low haemoglobin counts. Vitamin tablets were prescribed for them for 3 months to help improve their condition. Additionally, 7 women from the Family Strengthening Programme were found to have calcium deficiency, and the doctor recommended a standard diet for them said Sumanta Kar, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages India
