MGR spent more time in DMK than in AIADMK, says TN CM Stalin

Veteran actor and former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran spent more time with the DMK than with the AIADMK, said Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin on Wednesday. He was speaking to the gathering at the Dr MGR Janaki college of arts and science for women during the birth centenary function of MGR’s wife Janaki Ramachandran. The Chief Minister also unveiled a Thiruvalluvar statue and released a book on MGR and a souvenir on the function.

Stating that Janaki was the state’s first women Chief Minister, Stalin said, “Many would have been surprised so as to know why I took part in the event. For everyone who does not know the history, MGR spend more than two decades with the DMK from 1952 to 1972. The stint is more than the time he spent with his own party AIADMK. Through cinema, he took the ideology of the party to the public. But due to unavoidable circumstances he had to quit the party.” He said, “I would buy a ticket even though it was the costliest, for all the MGR movies. He used to treat everyone with love and affection.”
