Tamil Nadu Savara Thozhilalar Union has requested the government to give 5 percent reservation for the children of hair dressers in education and employment.
In the state level election of the union held here on Tuesday, M Munusamy was elected unopposed as state president. He said the workers were called in many names like maruthuvar, musicians, savara workers and in the MBC list.
All these subsects should be integrated and caste certificate should be issued in the name of maruthuvar. Many children from our community are now unemployed after higher education so government should provide 5% reservation in employment and education for the community.
Many are homeless so free house or house site should be provided. After taking charge of the DMK government, there is a plan to shave heads free of charge for devotees in temples.
For this purpose, temples provide a salary of Rs 5000 per month. The pay should be increased. Such workers should be declared as temple employees and permission should be given to auction the hair obtained in the temple through them.
A petition will be given to the Chief Minister in this regard. The newly elected General Secretary Kariyappa TK Raja, Treasurer S Natarajan, Organizing Secretary Jeevanadi Audit Committee Chairman Kuppusamy and other officebearers were present.
