The chairman of the government assurance committee of the state assembly and Panruti MLA T Velmurugan held an inspection on the progress of the development schemes in the district.
MLAs Aravind Ramesh (Sholinganallur), Arul (Salem West), Thirumangudi (Karaikudi), Mohan (Anna Nagar), Jayakumar (Perundurai), District Collector K.Tharpagaraj, and officials from concerned departments participated in the inspection.
The team inspected the classrooms, kitchen, and sanitation facilities at Amaravathi Murugaiyan school in the district, and officials were instructed to take necessary steps to establish requested facilities like a science laboratory and an auditorium at the school premises.
Drinking water project works in Kil Sirupakkam area worth Rs 3,666 crore were inspected, and Corporation officials were instructed to complete the works promptly.
Works at the Ammapalayam Aavin milk powder production unit were reviewed along with the assessment of the production and storage of milk powder, butter, and ghee were also assessed. At the Sathanur Government Primary Health Centre, availability of medicines, treatment procedures, and services provided to pregnant women were reviewed, and Sanjeevini medical kits were distributed. Later, a review was conducted on the water storage status of Sathanur Dam and the proposed Rs 300 crore Nandan canal project.
Project Director and District Rural Development Agency Director Mani, Corporation Commissioner Selvabalaji, health officials Prakash and Satish, and Water Resources Department Executive Engineer Arivazhagan were among those who participated in the review.
