Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin laid a foundation stone for construction of a new "Thozhi", working women's hostel with upgraded facilities at Vilangurichi at a cost of Rs 15.95 crore in 29,321 sq. ft. on ground and four floors having 200 beds through online on Wednesday.
In this event, District Collector Pavankumar Kiriappanaar, Coimbatore MP Dr. Ganapathi P. Rajkumar, Corporation Mayor K. Ranganayake Ramachandran, Commissioner Mr. M. Sivaguruprabakaran, and Deputy Mayor Ra.Vetrichelvan were present.
On behalf of the Department of Social Welfare and Women's Rights, Thozhi hostels are being run in various districts, realizing the needs of working women who leave their hometowns for work.
The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for 14 Thozhi hostels at Taramani, Chepakkam, Madurai, Coimbatore, Nagapattinam, Krishnagiri, Erode, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Theni, Sivagangai, Ranipettai, Karur with an estimated cost of Rs 176.93 crore to benefit 2000 working women.
