Child sex crime: From Pollachi to Paramakudi!

Chikamani, a 43-year-old AIADMK councilor from Paramakkudy in Ramanathapuram district, is also in the real estate business. Kayalvizhi, a woman working in his company, introduced Chigamani to a 9th standard student who could not even pay her school fees last December.

Chikamani, who said he was helping the schoolgirl, took her to a private hostel and raped her several times. Later, Prabhakaran, the state president of Marattamizhar Senai organization, also violated the student on the introduction of Kayalvizhi. Following this, Raja Mohammed from Paramakudi  town also raped the student several times.

After that, the girl sobbed and informed her parents about this, and the parents reported to the police. Subsequently, Police arrested 5 persons namely AIADMK councilor Chikamani, Prabhakaran, Raja Mohammad, Kayalvizhi and Annalakshmi alias Uma.

The Paramakudi student was tricked into not going to school for a month, kidnapped and sexually assaulted. This is not an ordinary matter. This incident is a sordid reminder of the sexual assault on girl students in Pollachi. AIADMK members were also arrested in the Pollachi incident. An AIADMK councilor has been arrested in Paramakudi.

It has also been reported that some important persons of the city are connected with this terrible sexual violence. Therefore, the case should be immediately transferred to the CBCID and a thorough investigation should be conducted and all the culprits should be arrested.

The Government of Tamilnadu should ensure that the details of the victim student are not revealed, provide her with appropriate relief, and ensure that she continues her studies!
