Amrita School of Agriculture Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Krishi Vigyan Kendra (ICAR-KVK), Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, to strengthen agricultural training, sustainable development, and rural empowerment initiatives in the region.
The collaboration will focus on developing skill-based and production-oriented training programmes tailored for farmers, women, rural youth, and agricultural students.
These programmes will be delivered through a combination of on-campus and off-campus modules, fostering experiential learning, innovation, and community engagement.
A core component of the initiative is the use of Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) methods to identify ground-level challenges and formulate locally appropriate, sustainable agricultural solutions. The partnership will also integrate Amrita’s academic research and technological innovations to enhance livelihoods and improve the employability of students in the agricultural sciences.
The MoU was signed by Mr. P. Ajithkumar, Registrar, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and Mr. V. Nadanasabapathy, Chairperson, CREED-KVK, in the presence of Dr. Sudheesh Manalil, Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
