4 tusks seized at Andhiyur

Police seized 4 ivory stashed in houses and agricultural fields in Andhiyur and Bargur hills and arrested 7 more persons. 

A special police  team of Bargur Police Station conducted a surprise raid on a tip-off that elephant tusks were being hoarded in the Ramasamy Estate near Chandipalayam Pallam next to Anthiyur. Of this, 3 tusks weighing 29.70 kg were stored in the garden were seized. In this connection, Varadarajan (47), Ramasamy (40), Prabhukumar (37),  Marasamy (50), Vijayakumar (33), Ranjith (33) , were arrested. Look at the investigationSiddesh and Murugan, both of Bejilpalayam village in the hills, were found to be related. 

In this case, Chikkupomman's son Mathevan (35), who hailed from Periyur village in Bargur Hills, came forward and handed over the elephant tusk, about one and a half feet long, which he had kept in his house, to the police on Thursday. Subsequently, the police seized 4 tusks and arrested 7 people. Police seized 4 tusks in Tamaraikarai next to Bargur two days back and 4 were held.
