Skill development training for women organised by SVPITM in Coimbatore

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textile and Management (SVPITM) recently concluded a 15-day skill development program titled “Pattern Making and Garment Construction for Rural Women'' in collaboration with GIZ (Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit).
The initiative, held from April 3rd to April 26th, 2024, aimed to empower women by equipping them with valuable skills for self-employment.
Twenty women successfully completed the program, adding to the previous batches of 100 women trained for self-employment.
During the valedictory function, Dr. P Alli Rani, Director of SVPISTM, stressed the importance of skill development in women’s empowerment and urged them to leverage the opportunity to achieve financial independence.
Certificates were distributed to the trainees, marking their accomplishment.
The program focused on nurturing entrepreneurial skills in pattern making and garment construction, utilising industrial tailoring
machines.  Amudha, one of the trainees, highlighted the transformative impact of the program, expressing her newfound sense of
self-sufficiency.
Another participant, Saranya, appreciated the flexibility the training offered, enabling her to balance earning income with childcare responsibilities from
home.
SVPISTM, committed to promoting women’s empowerment, continues to organise initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and opportunities for women in the community.
