Minister consoles family of woman who died after family planning surgery at Erode

Minister S. Muthuswamy inspected the baby of a woman who died in Kotepalayam and consoled the family.

Minister S. Muthuswamy on Tuesday condoled the family of the deceased woman who underwent family planning surgery at the Government Primary Health Center near Sathyamangalam.

  Durga (27), wife of Panneerselvam

of Kotepalayam Adidravidar Colony near Bavanisagar, gave birth to a baby boy in a healthy delivery on April 20 at Punjabi Puliampatti Government Primary Health Centre.

Following this, Durga underwent family planning surgery in the same hospital on 24th. After that, she suddenly fell ill and the doctors sent him to Coimbatore Government Hospital. She died there on Friday.

In this case, Panneerselvam filed a complaint with the Bhavanisagar police that his wife died during the family planning operation due to the negligence of the government doctors.

Meanwhile, Durga's body was handed over to her family after an autopsy at Coimbatore Government Hospital.

 Her relatives protested in front of the Government Primary Health Center,  on Saturday, demanding action against the doctors responsible for the death.

Gobi RDO Kannappan and Bhavanisagar Police Inspector Annam who came there after receiving the information held talks with the protestors. But his relatives who did not get peace continued to protest.

Following this, Minister S.Muthusamy spoke to Durga's relatives who were protesting on the phone and said that legal action will be taken regarding the issue and necessary assistance will be provided to the family of the deceased woman, then everyone dispersed.

In this case, Housing Minister S. Muthuswamy personally visited the family of the victim Durga on Tuesday and consoled them by providing financial assistance on behalf of DMK. He then promised the family to take good care of the child and provide necessary assistance.
