Let democracy thrive in J&K again

Let democracy thrive in J&K again

Jammu & Kashmir has received a lot of attention in this General Election.
This state was deprived of its special status in August 2019. Political figures spent several days incarcerated. This drew harsh criticism from both inside and outside of India.
Jammu and Kashmir has been under the direct rule of the Center since the BJP withdrew support to the Mehbooba Mufti-led government in 2018. Since then the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been suffering without an elected government.
Four seats in the Rajya Sabha are also vacant and the conduct of Legislative Assembly elections are being delayed.  Why is the BJP government passing the time without holding elections? How long will the people of this state not face elections?
However in the current  election to the Lok Sabha is being conducted in 5 phases for the 5 parliamentary constituencies in the state. Prime Minister Modi, who campaigned in Uttampur, said, "The time for assembly elections here is not far away. Jammu and Kashmir will soon get statehood,” he said.
The people of the state expected that the elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly would be held along with the Parliament. However, Prime Minister Modi has announced that elections to the Legislative Assembly will be held soon.
Whether it is an announcement to gain in the parliamentary elections or a testing ploy, it is welcome. It is the duty of the Union Government to give water to the democratic seed and grow it into a tree.
Prime Minister Modi who says that assembly elections will be held soon should also  tell when the elections will be held.
