Collector Palani orders officials to address water scarcity complaints in Villupuram

Collector C Palani has directed officials to address complaints regarding drinking water scarcity in Villupuram district promptly. He chaired a district-wide meeting at the Villupuram district collectorate meeting hall to discuss measures to tackle the shortage of drinking water caused by summer drought and expedite pending drinking water project works.
In response to the water scarcity, the Collector emphasised the importance of collecting water samples from alternative sources through the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board and identifying suitable sources for drinking water. Field survey kits will be provided to all panchayats, and executive committees have been established in each panchayat union to monitor and address complaints received.
To ensure adequate water supply, it was decided to distribute drinking water for 3 to 4 hours in the morning and evening in urban areas. Additionally, the Collector stressed the need for regular cleaning of overhead reservoir tanks every 15 days to maintain water quality.
The meeting was attended by several government officials.
