Cap on cash transit for 50 days after polls should be reconsidered

Cap on cash transit for 50 days after polls should be reconsidered

India's 18th Parliamentary General Election festival is underway. Polling in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on the comming 19th. But the counting of votes is on June 4 after the multiple phases of polling gets over in other states
After voting in the first phase of the election, a huge gap has been left as the people of Tamilnadu have to wait for about 50 days to know the result. Questions are being raised about this. The opposition parties are raising doubts that  this long gap may be used to stage manipulations.
According to the Election Commission of India’s codes even after the polls are over in Tamil Nadu on April 19, the cap on carrying cash of more that Rs.50,000 will  continue till the election result is declared on June 4.
Traders and farmers who may want to carry more than Rs 50,000 for essential purchases will be affeced.
It causes major disruption to businessmen's activities, events like weddings, marketing of farmers' produce etc.
Election Commission should remove the suffering of the people by lifting the 50 day restriction on cash transit. There is no doubt that freezing the cash flow for more than two consecutive months will affect the economy greatly.
It is the expectation of the people of Tamil Nadu and other states where the first phase of elections will be held that the Election Commission should review the matter and relax the rules of conduct immediately.
