Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 6. Various awareness programs are being conducted to ensure 100 percent turnout in the elections.
2741 polling stations have been set up in 939 places in 8 assembly constituencies in Erode district.
Of these, 302 polling stations were found to be tense.
A total of 128 candidates are in the fray in 8 segments.
There is a separate symbol for independent candidates.
The voting machine used in all segments were handed over to the respective election officials.
The centers, where electronic voting machines are kept, are guarded by gun-toting police.
Following this, the work of fitting the symbol on the electronic voting machine (EVM) started today.
In the EVMs in Erode West constituency, kept at Erode taluk office, officials inserted labels containing candidates, party name and symbol.
C. Kadiravan, Erode District Election Officer and Collector inspected the work.
West constituency election official Saibuddin was present.
This work continues tomorrow.
Once this task is completed the EVMs would be kept safely in the same office.
