It is not fair to waste the corona vaccine which is a rare invention.
An RTI petition was filed by Vivek Pandey to the Union Health Ministry asking for the details of the wasted vaccines across the country.
According to the reply from the Union Health Ministry, 10 crores 34 lakh doses of vaccines have been used until April 11. In this, 44 lakh 78 thousand doses have been wasted.
It is noteworthy that a maximum of 12.10% doses of vaccines has been wasted in Tamil Nadu alone.
It is also said in the reply that there is no wastage of doses in the states of Kerala, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa and in Union Territories including Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep.
It is unimaginable that people are wasting vaccines which is indeed a great invention that is acting as a saviour for our precious lives.
Our governments, which are indifferent to many things, have not completely deciphered the significance of vaccines yet. It is an unforgivable offence to waste vaccines in a time where people are longing to get the jab.
The officials who are indifferent in this matter should be identified.
The government authorities should be keen on preserving the vaccines from wastage and ensure that it reaches everybody including the poor.
Or else all the efforts made so far will be of no avail.
