Viswakarmas seek 4 per cent quota

State Executive Committee Meeting of Tamil Nadu Vishwakarma Artisans Association sought 4 per cent quota for viswakarmas in job and education opportunities. The association executive meeting was held in Coimbatore under the chairmanship of Dr. RM Shanmuganathan, State President of the Association in the presence of chief guests SP Velumani, Minister of Local Administration and KT Rajendra Balaji, Minister of Dairy. KPS Prakash, Coimbatore District Association president welcomed the gathering.

The State Executive Committee meeting was attended by more than thousand members of the association, Artisans Trade Union Congress and members of the Artisans’ Progressive League from various districts including Chennai, Trichy, Salem Erode, Ramanathapuram and Madurai.

Key resolutions were passed, including the implementation of the 4 per cent reservation already announced for the people of the Vishwakarma community, establishment of self-help groups for Vishwakarma women and the appointment of people from the community to the Vishwakarma Welfare Board.


The function was attended by KPS Rajesh, Treasurer, Vishweswara Trust, and many functionaries, including Kanagaraj Shanmugam, Dhanushkodi, Srinivasan, Selvaraj, Nagarajan, Kathiresan, Subramanian, Selvakumar and State, District and Zonal office bearers.
