This is a political vendetta: Jayakumar on DVAC raid

Former AIADMK minister Jayakumar has on Thursday criticized the DMK government for carrying out the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) raids in places owned by KC Veeramani as an act of taking revenge.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, former minister Jayakumar levelled various criticisms over the Anti-Corruption Department raid. Said, “The DMK government has initiated a raid in retaliation. The court is there and we will prove that we are not guilty”.

“It is anti-democratic to engage in such acts with the help of a handful of people thereby comfortably making excuses that the action is being taken on the basis of the complaint.

This is a sheer political vendetta. This is being done to paralyse the activities in the run-up to the local body elections. But the AIADMK is a movement that is not afraid of any threat In a democracy, there is a court. This is not a monarchy. They can specify any percentage of the asset accumulation.

But the ex-minister and the movement will uphold justice through the court. The raid is being carried out with the intention of revenge and tarnishing the party’s image among the people, “Jayakumar said.
