Social projects, contests mark Round Table Week


Contests and social projects benefiting close to 5000 students were carried out by Coimbatore North Round Table 20.
Coimbatore North Round Table 20 (CNRT 20) and Coimbatore North Ladies Circle (CNLC 11), to mark the Round Table India Week from November 10 to 16.

Coimbatore North Round Table 20 kickstarted the event with planting 160 saplings at Sankara Educational Institutions, Saravanampatty, Coimbatore in partnership with Nizhalmayam an NGO. Chairman of CNRT 20 Mr.Pattabiraman, Circle Chairperson Alice Vasanth, Vice Charperson Margadham, Administration Officer of Sankara Institutions Mr. Sekar, faculty members of Sankara and crew from Nizhalmayam were present.

On the second day, under the, “No Excuse for Child Abuse” programme,a training on self-defense strategy was held for the girl children of Government Higher Secondary School at Vellalore.

Ms. Soundarya, and Ms. Pramitha, students of Krishnamal College were the facilitators for the event. More than 300 girl students from 6th grade to 10th grade were present.

An awareness session about child abuse and cyber security was held at Gandhiji Government Higher Secondary School, Annur. The Session was handled by Mrs. Raji, Yi Masoom team. A session on water conservation was offered by Mr. Ashwin Kashyap, MD of Bow Chow Foods at Ramakrishna Central School, Nava India.

More than 200 students participated in the interactive session in which students gave ideas on water and energy conservation. Chairman Tr. Pattabiraman, Chairperson Cr. Alice Vasanth, Past Chairperson Cr. Annie Vanjinath were present for the session.

CNRT 20 & CNLC 11 had donated 20 artificial limbs to the Ashirwad Limb donation centre for supporting the cause for the benefit of 20 people.A drawing competition on Children’s Day at the Government Higher Secondary School at Vellalore, a mega blood donation camp was conducted in association with Karpagam Medical College.

Nearly 100 students participated and gave blood, and 75 units of blood was collected. A street play by students of Ramakrishna College on the importance of Round Table India was enacted at Brookefield Mall, Coimbatore.
