The Rathinam Women’s Club in association with the Department. of Microbiology, Department. of Psychology and Department. of Visual Communication jointly organized a ‘Self Defense Program for Women” to mark the International Women’s day.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. T. M. Hemalatha, Dean, School of Commerce, who addressed the gathering and felicitated the Chief Guest.
The Guest speaker Renshi. R. Krishnaveni, Rainbow Defence Martial Arts, India initiated the training session.
The program focused on sensitizing the women candidates on the need for the self-defence in the modern era.
The women students were trained on basic posture and movements to enhance the body flexibility, followed by the traditional Karate techniques to protect themselves from the impending danger and avert close quarters offence from others.
The training session lasted for one and a half hours in which the students were provided awareness and skill training on the different karate combat techniques.
A total of four hundred and twelve students participated in the event and benefited.
