The Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner has said that false information is being spread that many people have died due to the mutant variant of coronavirus in the Nanjundapuram area of Coimbatore.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner of the Corporation Kumaravel Pandian, it was said, “ Preventive measures are being taken in various ways to protect the people of Coimbatore Corporation, where the infection is spreading.
There have been rumours spreading across that the people of the Nanjundapuram area are being affected by the mutated variant of coronavirus and that many people have died due to that. A total of 650 samples have been taken so far to diagnose the disease in Nanjundapuram.
Only 56 people have been confirmed infected in the last 10 days. The area was immediately isolated and the corporation staff went door to door and diagnosed people with fever, cough, cold, shortness of breath, dizziness, excessive fatigue and diarrhoea and provided them with the necessary medical facilities and assistance.
So the public is asked not to believe such false rumours”. He further said that a complaint has been lodged with the police to take further action against the miscreants who spread false information.
