Rs 1.12 lakh cash seized


The public should use online transactions, rather than making their maximum transactions directly and keep proper documents, while carrying cash above Rs 50000, collector C Kathiravan said.

He said that Election Commission of India has declared the Assembly General Election 2021 and the Model Code of Conduct. Accordingly, Flying Squads, Static Surveillance Committees and Video Surveillance Committees have been set up to monitor in key areas.

On 06.03.2021, while the static monitoring team led by Mr. Anpalagan was on its way from Gobi to Sathy, the 2 wheeler of Karuppannasamy, Kanchikoil, was inspected and Rs. 1,12,500 cash was confiscated from him for not having proper documents.

During the interrogation, he said he had collected the outstanding amount for selling cement.

So, the amount was deposited in the Gobi treasury. Already, Rs 6.09 lakh seized in similar manner in the district.

Further, complaints related to the general election can be made to the District Electoral Control Office on 18004250424 and 1950 (toll free) or at the Election Control Room on 0424-2257901, 2256782, 2251863 and 2256524, he said.
