The people of Ammapettai Panchayat Union on Thursday staged a road blockade in Vellithiruppur panchayat demanding uninterrupted supply of drinking water.
More than 25 families are living in the rural areas of Puravipalayam and Kurumbapalayam.
Water was not distributed to the areas for the last 5 days.
No action has been taken despite the panchayat administration was informed about this several times.
so, the frustrated people of the area engaged in a sit-in protest on the road near the Vellithiruppur section with empty pots.
On the information, Vellithiruppu Panchayat Chief Eeswaramurthy, Ammapettai Regional Development Officer Sakthivel held talks with the public involved in the police picket.
The public abandoned the protest and dispersed on the assurance of the authorities that immediate action would be taken to provide drinking water.
Vellithiruppur Panchayat Chief Eeswaramurthy and Block Development Officer Sakthivel were among those who addressed the protesters and assured to settle the issue.
