A retired civil servant who had been feeding monkeys for six years died of corona. Ramalingam belongs to the Puthuvadavalli village near Sathyamangalam in Erode district.
He worked as an officer in the school education department and retired a few years ago. As the village is adjacent to the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, it is common for monkeys to invade the villages from time to time. The monkeys used to camp in the vacant trees opposite the house of him to await for food from villagers .
