Professors needn’t come to colleges: TN govt

The Tamil Nadu government has on Tuesday ordered that college teachers should not be forced to come to college in the current scenario of increasing corona infection.

The Department of Higher Education has sent a circular to all colleges in this regard stating, “Professors of Colleges/Universities shall be permitted to conduct online classes from home.” The notification also indicated that the exams should be conducted online only.

Apart from this, all the educational training institutions and coaching centres should conduct their classes online only. It is noteworthy that teachers were earlier made to come to colleges and universities for carrying out NAAC related works and other administrative works besides conducting online classes.

Therefore this announcement comes in the wake of a rapid surge in COVID cases across the state. The government has also made it mandatory for all colleges and universities to strictly adhere to the protocols.
