Priyanka Gandhi of the Indian National Congress has on Friday condemned the ruling party and questioned why Ajay Mishra is still not removed from the cabinet minister post.
The violence that erupted following the killing of farmers after Minister Ajay Mishra’s son’s car ran over them in Lakhimpur of Uttar Pradesh caused nationwide consternation.
Condemning the Lakhimpur incident, farmers marched yesterday in Narayankar in the Ambala district of Haryana state. Then, a farmer was injured when the car of Ambala Bajaj MP Nayab Saini crashed into the procession. He has been admitted to the hospital.
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi expressed her condolences to the family of Gulwinder Singh, a victim of the Lakhimpur violence.
She later told reporters, “Why is Ajay Mishra continuing in the Union Cabinet?” She also questioned whether the Prime Minister had any moral responsibility.
Priyanka Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on why Minister Ajay Mishra has not yet been removed from office is a sign of what those in power can do. Priyanka Gandhi accused that there is no law and order or democracy in Uttar Pradesh. She lamented that ordinary people did not get justice under the BJP regime.
