Prices of flowers shoot up

Jasmine and sampanki flowers are cultivated in more than 100 villages in the Sathy Taluk.

From here it is sent for sale to Coimbatore, Tiruppur districts and the states of Kerala and Karnataka.

The price was only slightly higher on Adi Fridays. The price went up at the flower market yesterday ahead of the start of the month of Avani.

The price of Mullai rose from Rs 150 to Rs 240 per kg, jasmine from Rs 350 to 805, Sampangi from Rs 70 to 90, and Kanakambaram from Rs 480 to 700.
