Power supply disconnected for 2 plastic units

 The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has taken steps to disconnect power supply of 2 factories that manufactured banned plastic products in the Erode district on the orders of the District Collector H. Krishnanunni. 


 Government Order No. 84 dated 25.06.2018 has banned the production, storage, supply, sale and use of disposable plastic items. 

Thus manufacture, storage, distribution, transportation, sale and use of plastic suction hoses, plastic flags, plastic cups, plastic bags of all sizes and thicknesses, non-woven plastic handbags, plastic coated paper trays, cups, sheets used to wrap food items, water bag pockets, are banned. 


 The High Court and the National Green Tribunal (Southern Region) have issued orders to strictly enforce the plastic ban and take action against violators.


 The TNPCB has been issuing closure orders to identify banned plastic manufacturing plants based on inspections and fumes.


 In this connection, during the investigation carried out by the TNPCB officials based on the complaints received from the public regarding the production of banned plastic products by telephone, it was found that two plastics factories operating in the Vendipalayam and Thudupathi areas were involved in the production of banned plastics. 

So, their power supply was disconnected.The Collector warned that if the factories were involved in the production of banned plastic products, strict action would be taken against them.
