District Collector C. Kathiravan said that voters over the age of 80 who are unable to go to the polls, differently abled, and who are suspected of being infected with the corona virus can cast their ballots by post.
To this end, the concerned polling station officials of the concerned Assembly constituency will issue Form ‘12D’ before 12.03.2021 to voters above the age of 80 years, disabled and suspected of being infected with the corona virus.
If the voters concerned are not at home, they will come in person a second time and deliver.
In addition, the concerned polling station officials will come to their homes between 12.03.2021 and 16.03.2021 after filling up the ‘12D’ form with sufficient details.
When the polling station officer goes in person to the home of the voter concerned to get the above forms, the polling station officer should go to the voter’s house twice within 5 days if he is not there and get the completed form.
In the case of persons with disabilities, a copy of the appropriate government certificate stating that they are persons with disabilities must be provided.
Those with corona infection, who are isolated on suspicion, should provide a certificate obtained from the health officer.
The Returning Officer will check all the relevant forms and verify the completed ’12D’ forms within the stipulated time and issue postal ballots, he said.
