Department of commerce of P.K.R Arts College for Women, Gobi, celebrated world consumer rights day on Monday.
In his address, R.Balasubramanian, Secretary, Erode district consumer protection centre, said ”March 15 is observed as world consumer rights day to raise awareness about consumer’s rights and needs so as to enable the consumer to fight against social injustices.
This year’s theme of the day is to gather all the consumers in a fight to ‘Tackle Plastic Pollution.”
He highlighted the consequences of the misleading advertisements of profit crazy producers and asked the consumers to be vigil always to ensure their rights.
Various competitions were held for students in connection with the subject and prizes were distributed to winners.
Gobi Consumer centre functionaries S.Radhakrishnan, K.R.Arunachalam, R.Jegadeesan, besides Dr.Mangala Gowri, Assistant professor, Department of Commerce and a student Raje spoke on the occasion.
