Parents have sent a petition to the Chief Minister MK Stalin complaining that the exam results were withheld by a private school in Erode on the ground of non payment of school fees.
There is a private school in Chennimalai Road, near Erode. Education is taught here under the CBSE syllabus. More than 100 parents of students studying in the school have lodged a complaint to the CM stating that ”they were forced to pay fees despite the schools were closed due to the corona. We are paying more than 50 percent fee.
According to the court order, only 75 per cent of the fees should be charged from students studying in private schools. We are prepared to pay a total of 75% of the fee as per that order.”
But the school administration disregards the court order stating that the school has a ‘brand name’. So they continue to insist on paying 100 percent of fee.
The parents rued ”We had already lodged a complaint with the Erode District Chief Education Office 7 months ago. No action was taken. The school said if the parents fail to pay 100 percent of the fees, the students will not be able to go to the next class.”
The parents further said ”they are constantly being forced to pay the full fee. People have been suffering for the past 10 months due to the corona epidemic.
As parents, our children and we are getting very upset because of the activities of the school as we are struggling to make both ends meet and run our daily lives. The year-end exam results of non-paying students are also with held.
”We hope that the Chief Minister will intervene in this matter and take appropriate action to cancel last year’s tuition fees and pay only 50 per cent fees in the coming academic year”.
