A consultation meeting was held on Saturday with the intelligence agencies at the Coimbatore Police Commissioner’s Conference.
In it, Commissioner Davidson Devasirvatham ordered the intelligence officers not to support any political party. Davidson Devasirvatham IPS took over as Coimbatore City Police Commissioner on Saturday.
Following this, he held consultations with intelligence officials on the same day. Speaking at the meeting, he said that the intelligence officials should not act in favour of any political party. He advised that the intelligence services should have an eye over the distribution of money to the voters and inform the higher authorities.
In addition, the Coimbatore City Police Department has a total of 35 police stations with 15 police stations each for law and order and crime wings, 3 women and two traffic investigation wings. For administrative reasons, the City Police division is divided into 4 zones namely East, West, Central and South. An Assistant Commissioner and 4 Inspectors will be on night patrol.
In the wake of this, Police Commissioner Davidson has ordered the appointment of another Assistant Commissioner on night patrol. It is planned to increase night patrols to prevent crime.
