MLA’s controversial speech

Rambai Singh is an MLA of Bahujan Samaj Party from Pathariya constituency in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. When she went to a village in her constituency, the villagers lodged a complaint with her.

They alleged that the panchayat officials were asking for bribes ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000 to allocate funds under the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana Scheme.

MLA Rambai Singh immediately asked the authorities to return the money received from the villagers. She then said to the officials, “You can get Rs.500, 1000 like salt added to food. But don’t snatch the daily bread of people entirely”.
The related video clip was widely circulated on social media.

When asked by reporters about this, MLA Rambai Singh casually said, “I have not lodged a complaint against the authorities except that I want to resolve this issue immediately.

Panchayat employees are low paid. So it is not wrong to receive the small amounts of money that the people themselves offer. I just told them not to receive bribes in lumps by force”.

This controversial speech of the MLA has caused flutter among the people.
