A mini lorry fell into 150 ft depth gorge after hitting the parapet wall of Thibam ghat road while moving in the second hair pin curve on Sunday evening.
The mishap was occurred when the turmeric laden lorry was moving from Asanur hills to Vellakoil, via the ghat road. The lorry was driven by Saravanan (30), a driver from Avalpoonthurai near Erode.
The lorry owner was accompanied by Devaraj (56). The mini-truck lost control of its driver when it veered off the second bend and crashed into a 150-foot ditch, breaking the side barrier.
The turmeric bundles scattered in the forest. Other motorists who saw driver Saravanan and Devaraj trapped in the mini truck immediately tried to rescue the two and an ambulance was called from Sathy and the Bannari check post police rushed to the spot and rushed the injured to the Sathy Government Hospital.
Driver Saravanan suffered a broken leg in the accident. Owner Devaraj suffered a hip injury. Sathy police are investigating the accident.
