Migrant workers throng Rly station

Thousands of migrant labours thronged Erode Railway Station to return to their native states despite total lock down was announced on Sunday.

In Erode district, they are engaged in various activities, especially building work, dyeing, tannery, factories operating in the Sipcot area, private companies, banian companies, mills, panipuri business, tea shop etc.

In places like Erode, Chennimalai and Perundurai, a large number of northerners stay and work with their families. Due to the Corona impact last year, a large number of Northerners went to their home states.

Later, when the impact began to wane, they came back to Erode to work. Various restrictions have been imposed as the impact of Corona is accelerating again. A full curfew has been imposed on Sunday.

Yesterday, however, it was announced that special trains would run as usual. So, people from other states started arriving at the Erode railway station from Saturday night.

On Sunday morning too they came walking to the station and left by special trains to their hometown.
