The streets were monitored by more then 1000 police personnel , who set up barricades at 16 thorough fares. The periyar flyover was blocked.
Meanwhile , people were seen making a beeline in front of a TASMAC outlet at Mulluvadi gate , hoping that the sale resumed during the lockdown .
However , the crowd disappeared after the workers clarified that they had come to seal the shops.
In Namakkal , a few bikers roaming on the city roads were advised and let go by the police personnel.
Superintendent of police S Sakthi Ganesan told.
That a total of 1400 police personnel were deployed to monitor the situation in the district besides , a total of 24 check posts are being set up along he district borders , he informed.
