The Government of Kerala has declared a one-day local holiday for Pongal on January 14 for six districts of the state where a considerable number of Tamil population lives.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had on Wednesday announced that the six districts where the Tamil people live will be given a day off on January 15 for Pongal.
But since the main festival of Pongal falls on January 14, Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister MK Stalin had written a letter to Kerala Chief Minister asking him to declare a holiday on January 14 for the 6 Tamil-speaking districts in Kerala.
In this situation, Kerala Chief Minister has on Thursday changed the date of the Pongal holiday in Kerala from 15th to tomorrow (January 14).
