KEC students’ project bags Rs. 1 lakh cash prize


The Union Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Ministry of Communication, in association with several government agencies organized 5G Hackathon recently.

Around 1000 applications were received from academia and industry. Many educational institutions, corporate professionals and startups have participated in the Hackathon.

Team “Dronea Tech” of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Kongu Engineering College (KEC), Perundurai, mentored by R.P.Karthik, Assistant Professor is one among the top 100 and received Rs.1 Lakh cash prize under “Agritech and Livestock” vertical of the Hackathon.

The student innovators J.Kathiravan, S.Kaviyarasu, N. Gokul Raja, M.Vishal, S.Tarun Balaji and C. Santhosh proposed drone-based precision remote crop management technology using Artificial Intelligence for crop disease and management.

The students said that the prize amount will be used to complete the project and compete for the next level funding of Rs 10 lakh. P.Sachithanandan, Correspondent-KEC and Dr.V.Balusamy, Principal-KEC appreciated the team and wished them for the next phases of success.
