Thondamuthur DMK candidate Karthikeya Sivasenapathy on Tuesday took to a Facebook live video and accused the Coimbatore City Police of being a mercenary of Minister SP Velumani.
Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 6. While all the parties have announced their candidates, the nomination process is in full swing. Accordingly, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, the state secretary of the DMK’s environmental wing, is contesting from the Thondamuthur assembly constituency in Coimbatore.
It is significant that it is the same constituency where Minister SP Velumani is contesting on behalf of AIADMK. In this context, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy was campaigning with his supporters in the Kuniyamuthur area of Coimbatore on Tuesday. At that time, there was a commotion as the police gathered in the area in the name of security and regulations.
He accused the police of acting in a way that disrupted the campaign. Following this, Karthikeyan Sivasenapathy questioned the police, saying that the police were deliberately obstructing the campaign. Subsequently, he expressed his reprimand to the Police Department as being the “mercenary of Minister Velumani”.
Subsequently, there was a commotion between the police and DMK supporters in the area. He further warned that if the police continue to interrupt during the campaign, a demonstration will be staged on the Kuniyamuthur main road on behalf of DMK.
