The launch of ‘Hope After Fire ‘, Phase 3 was held at Ganga Hospital today.
Hope After Fire is a joint initiative of Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis and Ganga Hospital, to provide totally free reconstructive surgery for the correction of deformities due to burns.
While popular Cine actor Mr. Karthik Sivakumar was the Chief Guest, Rotary Governor Elect Mr. Rajasekaran and Mr. Sathish Kumar, MD of Milky Mist were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, after launching the Phase 3 of the project, Mr. Karthik Sivakumar mentioned that awareness about the project needs to increase.
Lauding the efforts of the Doctors at Ganga Hospital and the Rotary Club, he said that successfully doing the project for the past ten years is no mean achievement.
He hoped that the project would benefit many more people in the next ten years.
He also handed over a cheque for the project on the occasion.
Dr. Raja Sabapathy, Project Director at Ganga Hospital stated that by this project the entire treatment process from assessment, surgery to physiotherapy and rehabilitation is taken care of by the project.
Started in the year 2012, in the 9 years 955 surgeries have been performed on 574 patients with a project value of Rs. 5.66 crore, making a difference in the lives of the families.
Three beneficiaries, namely Mrs. Kavitha from Mettupalayam, Sheela from Karamadai and Thara, (the mother of Baby Kanishka, a child fire accident victim), shared their experiences on the occasion.
There were felicitations by Rtn.Dr.R.V.Ramani and Rtn. N.Sundaravadivelu on the occasion.
A presentation by Rtn. Dr.S. Raja Sabapathy on the topic ‘Journey till now and the way forward’ and a report by Rtn. Ramesh Veeraraghavan, ‘Honouring benefactors for their support’ were some other highlights of the event.
Earlier President Rtn. N.Janakiram Raju gave the welcome address. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rtn. Shanthi Suresh.
