HC rejects OPS & EPS’ plea on defamation suit

The Madras High Court has on Tuesday rejected the plea of O Panneerselvam(OPS) and Edappadi Palanisamy (EPS) in the ongoing defamation case filed by Bengaluru Pugazhendi.

Recently, Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) youth wing leader Anbumani criticized the AIADMK. Thus, the then AIADMK spokesperson Pugazhendhi said it was PMK’s habit to join the alliance every time and criticize others after the election defeat.

Following this, Pugazhendhii was removed from his post as a basic member of the AIADMK last June.
Thus, Pugazhendhi filed a defamation suit against the Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator of AIADMK in the special court for MPs and MLAs.

The special court, which heard the case, ordered OPS and EPS to appear in person on August 24 (today). Meanwhile, on the 14th, OPS and EPS had filed a plea in the High Court seeking the quashing of the defamation case and an urgent inquiry. In this situation, the High Court refused to hear the petition of O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palanisamy with immediacy.

Due to the rejection of the plea, OPS and EPS have to appear in the special court tomorrow.
