Ryots of Anthiyur area were happy over high yield in sunflower crops this season.
Raju, a farmer from Maravapalayam near Anthiyur in Erode district, raises sunflowers on an acre of agricultural land he owns.
As he puts it, ”he is happy to say that the sunflower crops are harvested in 90 days and the profit is around Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 per acre.”
He added that drip irrigation was sufficient for the flowers once a week and most of the farmers in the area were cultivating sunflower as it required an investment of only Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre.
