In the camp at Mettupalayam, elephants are hugging each other and soaking in excitement.
A special elephant welfare camp is being held on behalf of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu at Thekkampatti along the riverbed of Bhavani river near Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district.
The camp is attended by 26 elephants from temples and monasteries in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The elephants here are given daily walks and nutritious natural foods as they perform various activities with great joy and freshness and amaze the onlookers.
The elephants attending the camp are getting used to being friendly and accommodating. They intertwine their trunks and exchange kisses with each other. It is amazing to see that the Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy Temple Elephant Ramalakshmi obeys the orders of its mahout in Hindi.
This one and elephant Kalyani of Perur Patteeswarar Temple next to Coimbatore are getting along with each other in harmony. These two elephants are going together excitedly while walking and bathing in the camp. It’s beautiful to see the bucket being lifted by the trunk with great enthusiasm, especially when going for a bath in the morning. This has taken the viewers by great surprise.
