After a decade of the AIADMK rule, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) supremo M K Stalin marked his thumping victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The counting of votes for 234 assembly constituencies took place on May 2 and the results were declared late in the evening. The DMK alliance marked its victory by a comfortable margin. While the counting is still on for certain constituencies, DMK is leading in 159(win and leads) while the AIADMK alliance has emerged successful in 75 seats.
As the counting is still on, the results for certain constituencies are yet to be declared. M K Stalin who is set to become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu spoke to the press on Sunday night. He has announced that the swearing-in ceremony will probably take place on Tuesday at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai.
He has also said that a meeting will be organised with all the newly-elected MLAs of the party on Tuesday. “In that meeting, the leader will be elected formally and then there will be a consultation with the officers. Following that, the details of the swearing-in ceremony will be announced. Considering the prevailing COVID situation, we have decided to conduct the ceremony in a simple manner,” he said.
