DMK wins 2 seats in Erode after 10 years gap

In the 8 Assembly seats in the Erode district, DMK contested directly in 5 seats -Erode West, Modakkurichi, Bhavani, Anthiyur and Gobi.

In this, Muthusamy, who contested in the Erode west constituency, won by a margin of 22089 votes against his rival KV Ramalingam (AIADMK).

Similarly, in Anthiyur constituency, AG Venkatachalam, who contested for the DMK, won by a margin of 1275 votes against Shanmugavel.

DMK candidates lost in Bhavani, Gobi, and Modakkurichi constituencies.

The AIADMK alliance won 8 of the 8 assembly constituencies in the Erode district in the 2011 assembly elections.

Similarly, in the 2016 assembly elections, the AIADMK won 8 seats. It is noteworthy that after almost 10 years, the DMK has won 2 constituencies in Erode.

DMK volunteers, however, celebrated the victory enthusiastically.
