District admin mobilises private donations to augment COVID treatment facilities

To create additional facilities for patients affected by coronavirus besides oxygen and to step up measures against the spread of the virus, the Salem District Collector S.A Raman has sought donations from voluntary organisations, local business men and industrialists.

In a meeting with the potential donors on Friday the Collector explained to them the steps being taken to ensure zero loss of lives and about the measures being taken to prevent the spread as per the orders of the Chie Minister.


The Collector also gave details about the steps being taken to install modular decentralised oxygen production systems in all the 11 constituencies in the districts.

These decentralised production centres can support up to 40 patients at a given point of time and can ensure self-sufficiency with regard to oxygen supply in the particular constituency.

Besides this steps are being taken to set-up a 500 bedded exclusive corona treatment centre in Salem Steel Plant. More such exclusive centres are being planned.

To create the above facilities the District Administration is soliciting donations from local volunteers, business men and industrialists said the collector..

An exclusive account in the name COVID Account has been opened with ICICI Bank, Salem Main Branch.

ACOUNT NO 190601000434 IFSC CODE ICIC0006119. Mr.P.Vimalan, partner, Shiva Granites donated Rs 10,00,000 in the meeting. He handed over the cheque to the Collector and R.Rajenderan, MLA, Salem North Constituency.
