Curfew hits revenue of TNSTC by 50 percent

Due to night curfew, the revenue of TNSTC has come down by 50 per cent. Normally, 800 buses will be operated from 11 depots of TNSTC Erode division. Of these, less than 350 are town buses and the rest are mofussil buses.

The Transport Corporation has ordered buses to run between 4:00 am and 9:00 pm only.

Long distance buses coming from Trichy, Madurai, Krishnagiri, Hosur should reach the depots by 10:00 pm. As a result, mofussil bus movement and collections have been affected by 50 per cent.

State Transport Corporation officials said: Town buses are fully operational. But, mofussil bus services are reduced.

In Mofussil buses, we run long distance buses to Madurai, Trichy, Tanjore, Nagoor, Krishnagiri, Hosur and Tirunelveli one time only in a day. The last bus to Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Sathyamangalam and Pollachi are suspended.

If the long distance buses arrive between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, we will drive them to the required towns like Gobi, Sathy, Bhavani, and Kodumudi.

Since there is a complete curfew on Sundays, we are asking buses to stop at the depot earlier than usual time on Saturdays.

As a result, bus traffic has dropped by 50 to 60 percent. The driver and conductors who come to work, are asked to stay in workshops and works are allotted.

Collection has been severely affected as there is no collection from buses other than the Town Buses. As always, private buses do not run at night. Therefore, their collection was not hit, they said.
