Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM) released its candidate list on Saturday ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Despite the names of many of the party’s state executive committee members, newcomers have been offered the opportunity.
While it was said that Balabharathi might be given a chance, she was not given a chance to stand firm on party rule. CPI(M) in the DMK led alliance asked for 12 constituencies in the talks and after a long tug-of-war, they finally agreed to sign 6 constituencies. For the first time, the party is not contesting in Chennai.
The Marxist Communist Party is contesting in 6 constituencies including Thiruparankundram, Gandarvakottai (reserved), Dindigul, Kovilpatti, Aroor (reserved) and Kizhvelur (reserved). The names of the candidates are discussed in the State Committee meeting on the basis of the decisions made by the respective District Committees.
State Secretary K Balakrishnan released the official list of candidates today. The list of candidates contesting in 6 constituencies are as follows:
1. Thiruparankundram – SK Ponnuthayi 2. Kandarvakottai Private – M. Chinnathurai 3. Dindigul – N. Pandi 4. Kovilpatti – K. Srinivasan 5. Aroor – Kumar 6. Kizhvelur – Nagai Mali Intra-party democracy will be strictly adhered to in the Marxist Communist Party.
Key leaders like Kanagaraj, Balabharathi, Dillibabu, Madhukur Ramalingam were on the proposed list. Still, new candidates have been giving the seats based on majority results.
