Kovai Coutralam opens after five months

The people of Coimbatore are happy with the opening of Kovai Coutralam(Siruvani Falls) on Monday.

Kovai Coutralam Falls, located in the Sadivayal area, was closed last April due to the increase in corona cases in the Coimbatore district. Poochamarathur eco-tourism in the Karamadai area was also closed. Due to the decline in the caseload, the administration has issued certain relaxations to the curfew.

Accordingly, Kovai Coutralam Falls and Poochamarathur eco-tourism park were opened on Monday. It has been mandatory that the tourists must register at coimbatorewilderness.com. It was announced that only tourists who register through the website will be allowed. Only 150 were allowed yesterday.

Siruvani Falls operated from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The waterfall was flooded due to heavy rains in the Western Ghats. The forest department said tourists would be barred if the water level in the falls increases due to the rains. Forest officials have advised all tourists to abide by the Corona guidelines.
